@EvilTube2007 the same thinking happened to me. A Columbia House Executive told me I don’t owe them money for DVD’s I RETURNED. Now THREE YEARS LATER, some Indian dude is telling me Columbia House forwarded a NONEXISTENT ACCOUNT to them. IF YOU KNOW YOU DON’T OWE ANYTHING DON’T PAY!!!!. There are SCAMS THAT ARE RUN THE SAME WAY!!!

how do they work?
I got some jackholes calling me every other day and I don’t owe a damn thing. “I’ll have to put a lein on your home” – “I’ll be sending a credit report.” I told them to do it or STFU. No lein. No credit report. These people pull scams on you just because they can.

they keep calling and calling asking if you have more debts to collect.
debt collectors even hound people who are owed money i order to get you to use their services. i know of one that will say you owe them thousands just for the fact that you considered using them but decided not too.

@aarondavid826 I’d say the real thief’s are the credit companies that jack up your rate on your credit card because you were late with your car payment that is a completely different company. Credit companies dug their own hole. I dated a girl that made 7.25$ an hour and they gave her a card with an 8000$ limit. Good Idea. Her minimum payment was like 500$ a month and she only made around 1000$ a month. And what are they supposed to do with the stuff? Sell your underwear on craigslist?
Everyone gets into debt from time to time.You NEVER need to deal with a debt collector over the phone.It all HAS to be done by mail to be legit anyways.A real collection company will never threaten you.Google the collection laws in your state and empower yourself.Turn the tables on shady collectors and ALWAYS pay the principal debt holder.Never pay a collection agency unless they are the principal debt holder(they usually aren’t).And be sure to get their full name for your FTC report.
What’s the point of hiring a debt collector if they aren’t willing to do things that you personally aren’t? Of course they do illegal things, of course they threaten and harrass those they’re trying to collect from.
